MEET THE TEAM
Alik Minikhanov is a licensed acupuncturist, massage therapist and healer with over 20 years of experience in providing holistic healing therapies and a variety of degrees in acupuncture, physical education, classical and medical massage, sports training, and herbalism. Alik has been educated and has practiced his healing arts in countries around the world including Sweden, Russia and Lithuania. He is also renowned for developing new therapies that combine different techniques to achieve greater physical and emotional health. At the Holistic Healing Center, Alik specializes in acupuncture, medical massage, pain management, energy healing and nutrition.
Dr. Lana M. Kontos, N.D.
Advisory Board, Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor
Lana Kontos has studied nutrition in and out of the classroom for over 30 years. Her passion for health led her to become a Board-Certified Naturopathic Doctor.
Dr. Lana teaches individuals how to take control of their health so that they may live an energetic, pain free, disease free life, while avoiding the medical system. She also conducts cost reducing wellness programs for organizations and corporations.
Dr. Lana Kontos has a private, science-based, health consulting practice in Warren, Ohio. She does not diagnose diseases, treat conditions or prescribe medications. Her practice is quite different than traditional Naturopaths as her training, in addition to her Doctorate, is rare. She spent five years studying with Medical Doctors and scientists and is a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner. Only a small percentage of Doctors in the U.S. have this science-based education. In addition, she studied for five years at The Wellness Forum Institute of Health Studies in Columbus, Ohio.
Her areas of study include: gastrointestinal disorders (GERD, Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel syndrome), cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, auto immune disorders, nutrition, menopause and weight loss.
Dr. Lana has also studied personally with Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn Jr., M.D.at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Esselstyn was a surgeon, clinician and researcher at the Cleveland Clinic for more than 35 years, where he was also a member of the Board of Governors and President of the staff. He organized the first National Conference on the Elimination and Prevention of Heart Disease. Dr. Lana is trained in helping patients reverse chronic terminal cardiovascular disease.
She is a Certified Facilitator with the Wellness Forum in Columbus, Ohio, one of the largest and most well-respected health education companies in the world. Their programs are recognized worldwide by medical organizations, academic institutions and government agencies. This information has helped hundreds of thousands of people to learn about the principles of dietary excellence and optimal habits.
Dr. Lana’s credentials include, Certification in plant-based nutrition from Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s Program from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She has personally learned from Dr. Campbell, who is the author of the best-selling book, The China Study.
She is a Certified Digestive Health Specialist with The Loomis Institute of The Logan College of Chiropractic and a Certified Trainer with Dr. John McDougall's Nutrition and Lifestyle Program, The Starch Solution. Dr. John McDougall, M.D., has had a private practice for over 40 years and teaches doctors and students how to avoid drugs and surgery by using food to cure common diseases.
Dr. Michelle Thompson-Olson, D.O.
Advisory Board, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Michelle L. Thompson-Olson, D.O., is an integrative family medicine physician who treats the root causes of health problems, not just the symptoms. She is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine where she studied the holistic approach to health care, obtaining her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Thompson-Olson is the former director of Great Lakes Institute massage therapy program, studied with the Neuromuscular Therapy Center in St Petersburg, FL, and completed her internship and family medicine
residency at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a Board Certified Osteopathic Family Medicine Physician, and an associate clinical
professor for LECOM and PCOM, both osteopathic schools in Pennsylvania, and formerly was a trustee for the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.
Currently, she is employed by University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and has a full time integrative family medicine practice seeing infants through the end of life utilizing a natural approach to healthcare.
Dr. Thompson-Olson's specialty is reversing disease through diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes while empowering her patients to take charge of their health and work as a team with their physician. There are healing powers of proper nutrition in almost all disease processes and she believes that eating for health can be pleasurable; we just all need to learn to eat in way that serves our body.
