Ski Season Scheduled To Begin At Nemacolin Woodlands' Mystic Mountain

Friends and Neighbors Night highlights 2009 Season

Farmington, PA (December 15, 2009) — Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort will open for the winter ski season on Thursday, December 24, 2009.  The facility is open to the public, and ski enthusiasts do not have to stay overnight at the resort to enjoy the wide array of offerings.

“We are really excited about our new Friends and Neighbors Night that we have planned for this season,” says Matthew Grobe, director of recreation at Nemacolin Woodlands.  “For just $20, anyone can ski the mountain on Friday evenings.  That price includes equipment rentals and a lift ticket.  We think that this program is a wonderful way to introduce people of all ages to the sport and provides the perfect atmosphere for a family ski night.”  In addition, the Hungry Moose Café at Mystic Mountain will offer a special happy hour and food discounts.

Mystic Mountain is a 25-acre, complete winter sports complex offering downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing and snow tubing on ten slopes and trails.  The mountain is serviced by three lifts: a quad chair, a beginner tow, and a surface lift in the snow tubing park.  Additional offerings include equipment rental, a ski retail shop, ski and snowboarding lessons, and the Snow Monsters snow camp for children (ages 4 to 12).  Night skiing is also popular, with the slopes completely illuminated and reduced pricing offered on passes and rental equipment.  The mountain is one of the most beginner-friendly ski mountains in southwestern Pennsylvania, with a gentle vertical drop of 300 feet.

Area skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes every weekend (Friday through Monday) through February 27, 2010 – weather permitting.  For hours of operation and pricing for Mystic Mountain winter sports complex at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, call 1-866.399.6957, extension 6070 or visit www.nemacolin.com.   The Ski Hotline for Mystic Mountain – with information on current weather conditions and slope openings and closings – is 724-329-6982.
