Press Room- Archived Press Releases: Woodlands World Opens Feb.2 In Downtown Uniontown

Store is outdoor enthusiast’s paradise

Farmington, PA (January 24, 2006) – Woodlands World Outdoor Store opens Feb. 2 as the newest store in downtown Uniontown. Located at 27 West Main Street with 9,750 square feet of retail space, Woodlands World brings an expansive offering of hunting, fishing, archery and camping gear – as well as firearms – to the heart of Fayette County.

Woodlands World moved to downtown Uniontown from Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington to provide greater accessibility to the outdoor store, as well as drive the store’s current consumer traffic to the Main Street area. Woodlands World is a further commitment to the revitalization of the main downtown corridor by Maggie Hardy Magerko, president and owner of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Hardy Magerko opened 30 East Main restaurant to rave reviews in April 2005 and the Nemacolin Collection designer clothing stores in October 2005.

“With each of these businesses, we are bringing unique outlets to the main business district of the city so that we can continue to build consumer traffic and form a strong retail base to attract other regional and national retailers and food and beverage operators,” said Hardy Magerko. “I’m excited to be a part of the ambitious plan to turn this area into a high-traffic retail area and to stimulate tourism and make Uniontown a destination for day trippers and weekend travelers alike.”

The new store carries the following lines of gear, apparel, clothing and boots: Orvis, Shimano, Coleman, Mossy Oak, Rocky Boots, Irish Setter, and Hoyt, plus firearms by Remington, Winchester, Browning, Beretta and Benelli. Store hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Grand Opening activities start Thursday, Feb. 2, when the store opens at 6:00 a.m. There will be coffee and donuts for shoppers, plus the first 100 customers receive Woodlands World t-shirts. In addition, the store is offering 10 percent off everything in the store (excluding firearms and optics) both Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, Feb. 4, a ribbon-cutting will take place at 10:00 a.m. with Fayette County Commissioner Joseph A. Hardy, III and other local dignitaries. Kids can visit with Woody the Woodchuck, mascot for Woodlands World, and Joe the Bear, mascot for the PGA TOUR 84 Lumber Classic. Plus, shoppers will receive 20 percent off all merchandise in the store (5 percent off firearms and optics), and a $1,000 gift certificate will be given away.
