THE PLAYER APPROACH

My personal experience as a professional golfer and son of golfing legend, Gary Player, led me to create a simplified approach to the game: The Player Approach. I have had more access to golf gurus, legends and sports psychologists than maybe anyone. You name them, and I spent my Dad’s money there as a young man. There are so many golf gurus out there that the golf world seems to be inundated with a bunch of instructional malarkey. So who is the guru of the gurus? I don’t know.  But I do believe in a simplified, three-pronged approach to eliminate paralyses of analysis: a flat front foot, athleticism, and a positive attitude.

MEET WAYNE GARY PLAYER

Wayne Gary Player was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Gary and Vivienne Player. He is the one of six Player children, four girls and two boys, and grew up traveling the world with his father, the world’s most traveled athlete. He loved to watch his father play golf and interact with other players, friends, fans, and business associates. More than anything, Wayne loved to listen to his dad share his philosophy about the game and its relationship to life that focused on balancing the mind and body.

Early in his golfing career, Wayne seemed destined to further his family’s name in the game of golf. In 1979, at the age of 17, Wayne made the 36-hole cut at the British Open held at Royal Lytham. When he qualified for the 1982 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, he and his father became the first father/son duo to qualify and play in both a U.S. and British Open at the same time. Wayne went on to win several amateur and professional titles and competed in two British Opens, a U.S. Open, four British Amateurs and three U.S. Amateurs.

Wayne partnered with Disney to create The Disney Institute Golf Experience. The program included both classroom and on-course instruction for over 10,000 attendees over a two-year period, featuring his proprietary teaching method called the “Player Approach” to golf.

From there, Wayne went on to work with several top golf instructors including David Leadbetter, Bob Toski, and Peter Kostis, and made multiple television appearances on The Golf Channel and Fox Sports.

Today, Wayne is the founder and owner of Wayne Player Productions, LLC a full service entertainment and travel company, specializing in customized golf and bucket list experiences for corporate and private clients. These personally hosted events include everything from The Masters, The British Open, The Ryder Cup, golf excursions to Scotland and Ireland to an incredible Golf Safari to South Africa. Horse and tennis enthusiasts will enjoy customized experiences to The Kentucky Derby, The Breeders Cup, French Open, US Open and Wimbledon.

Wayne is most passionate about his contributions to charitable organizations. He has been honored to serve as host and MC at a wide variety of charity events, where he additionally donates live auction items such as incredible travel experiences and rare pieces of golf memorabilia.

Wayne’s greatest lesson from his father was, “A promise made is a debt incurred.” This philosophy has served as the cornerstone of Wayne’s commitment to his clients in teaching them to simply enjoy what they do and look good while doing it!

Wayne resides in Tequesta, Florida, with his wife Shervon and three boys, Jordan, Tyler, and Nicholas.
