Nemacolin's Off-Road Driving Academy Instructional Series will guide you through a progression of three off-road courses designed to develop and enhance your driving skills. Beginner and intermediate courses are offered in each instructional series. The Off-Road Driving Academy offers 30 minute ride along adventures for a max of four riders daily at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

THE ROCK is the crown jewel of instructional courses, designed to demonstrate the capabilities of our off-road driving mobiles and introduce you to proper driving techniques. Training takes place on our two-story observation deck as well as behind the wheel.

THE CRATER is a seven-acre, mile-long course encompassing several water fording ponds, multiple climbs, awkward descents and moguls designed to challenge and entertain drivers of all skill levels. The Crater picks up where The Rock left off by using skills you obtained and putting them to use in a more elaborate course.

THE TRAILS boasts more than 600 wooded acres with about 20 miles of terrain covered with any type of obstacle imaginable. While driving trails like "The Pits" and "Rock House," all your driving experience from The Rock and The Crater courses will have you overcoming ruts, logs, mud, and hill climbs. Only the H1 instructional series offers an expert level course.

Group Events/Owner Excursions
The Off-Road Driving Academy is a prime location for group off-road and corporate events. Special events can be customized to meet the needs of any group. Bring your own vehicle and have our instructors guide you through our course situated in the Laurel Highlands. You will learn how to properly use your vehicle while navigating through specific off-road conditions. Trips are also available for the experienced off-road enthusiast.  

Seating capacity varies in each vehicle and there can be no more than 3 or 4 drivers per vehicle. Comfortable clothing and outdoor footwear are advised, as some time outside the vehicle should be expected. 

A Valid driver’s license must be presented upon registration. Nemacolin Woodlands Resort reserves the right to judge participants' performance. Any person engaging in activity we feel to be unsafe and dangerous will forefit their right to drive at our discretion with no refund.
